Mendel Biotechnology possesses what we believe to be one of the most extensive germplasm collections of important bioenergy feedstock species such as Miscanthus and Sorghum. These diverse accessions represent the foundation materials for our breeding program to develop improved commercial varieties. Mendel's scientists and our collaborators are leading experts in the application of advanced molecular approaches to efficiently identify plants that possess the most beneficial combinations of genes. As such, we are using state of the art DNA analysis platforms to rapidly establish and fingerprint new elite varieties, exhibiting enhanced traits such as drought tolerance and rapid growth, which are highly adapted to the commercial growing regions.
